Edited by: Red Rydah on 14/02/2011 01:58:29 ....I'm going to give you some free advice on how to handle the inevitable loss of your vessel and your clone, especially since Hulkageddon is around the corner. It will spare you the embarassment of looking silly if you have a freakout and start badmouthing the person who (bleep)ed in your cornflakes that day.
I know there is a risk in going into lowsec to get bargains. In some cases it's a lure. But I've prided myself on being able to get in and out of lowsec at the drop of a hat before anyone noticed. I've skilled high enough to be able to jump to warp before anyone noticed me, and I've always been able to zip in and out of station before someone got the bead on me. I've had many close escapes but always got away unmarked. Until today.
I saw some skillbooks that were a bargain in Amamake, and dug out an old burst (one of many) that I used for trips like this. No big whoop if I lost it and it jumps fast. I managed to get in and out of the station in a matter of seconds easy and hit the warp to zero button to a nearby jumpgate for my trip home. I just edged the warp jump gauge line when I heard one of the fastest locks in my life target my ship. My ship was blown to pieces. I tried to jump to warp in my pod and got podded. In just a few seconds, a guy named Lukka fried both my ship and my clone.
He got me, fair and square. No patting on my back this time, no lucky escapes to brag about. I lost my ship, my skill books, and my clone. Not a lot of ISK, but the ego blow was there. And there was only one way to handle such a blow. I quickly opened up my EVE Mail, typed the followng message below, then clicked send:
Good kill! From: Red Rydah Sent: 2011.02.14 01:17 To: Lukka,
:)
This is the correct way to handle a loss like this. No raging at the aggressor is going to make you feel better. No going to channels to complain will get your ship back. Take the loss for what it is, as a lesson that you are never completely safe in EVE Online, and that a gamble can backfire.
Something to think about and take to heart as Helicity's buddies come to highsec to party-hearty.....

Originally by: Mystic5hadow I wouldn't have said anything. That's the ideal thing to do.
If EvE were real and you just lost a ship, skillbooks and a pod containing your clone, you sure as hell wouldn't be saying "Good kill!" you'd either say nothing at all and move on or hunt the guy down and attempt revenge, while raging or not.
Besides, anybody can insta-lock like that and get an easy kill. Certainly not a "Good kill!" in my books.
But it is a game, so the response was appropriate.

Originally by: Burial Day You can choose to ignore my advice, but your answer proved my judgment - this one too.
To quote Josh Billings, "the very thing that men think they have got the most of, they have got the least of; and that is judgment". Seems to walk hand-in-hand with your judgement and your definition of advice.
Originally by: Zuper Zpy After playing 2 weeks I had got up to 10 mills ISK. I spent it all on mex and loaded my badger to sell it about 8 jumps into low sec. The obvious happened mainly out of ignorance. If the only pirates were NPC then we would complain about the AI being either too easy or too hard. I never blamed the ganker just my own stupidity.
That's it, exactly. Whether you were outwitted by another player or simply did yourself in, take the high road, show some grace and accept this as a EVE lesson without getting upset over it.

Originally by: Serge Bastana I got blown up in low sec a few months back, my mistake for not paying attention. As I warped my pod out I asked the guy who shot me in local if he could be more gentle next time as I nearly spilled my beer
Most of the time you can have a laugh with whoever attacked you, it's not personal generally, just you were the one they found and often it's because you weren't diligent enough to avoid being ganked.
If you're a new player, ask them for some tips, you never know.
I wish I asked that person for tips on how he was able to lock so fast instead of just sending him a pleasant complimentary message. It may help me on my next trip.

Let me tell you, boy, that you will rage and rant for a while if I see you. Because I'll shoot you down like a rabid dog and I won't steal your stuff. I'll shoot that too.
I'm very sorry, but there was no trolling here.
And oh noes, I just got forum-threatened by a 27 day old character in an NPC corporation. I think this is the part where I quit EVE. Oh wait, no, I think it's the part where I burst into laughter.

This is my forum alt, in case you're not intelligent enough to have figured that out yourself. My main will do the proper job and you won't even see it coming. Nice try though sport.
Fair enough. I'll give you until, hmm, April 1st, 2011, to make do on your promise in-game.
EDIT: and again, this is not a troll, I did get podded, the kill rights are here to see:

P.S. - Never buy anything from Amamake.
Thanks for finding this. I think being called "no-name player" from someone with an adjective for a name somehow waters down the insult. At least this proves I wss not trolling.

Nice to know I was blown to pieces by the New Eden equivalent of a Forbes 100 corporation.

Originally by: Milla Jovo***** Dude, what WERE you doing in Amamake anyway? You should know the place is no good for you.
Oh, but the bargains there are worth it! And I never get caught! Well....until recently...
Originally by: Milla Jovo***** Plus, you've been blogged about, too.
So I was podded by a member of the New Eden equivalent of a Forbes 100 company, and mentioned on his blog too? Things are looking up! And if you read his blog like I did, you'll see I handled my situation a lot better than the other twits who raged and screamed at him.
The point of my post in the first place.
